We had a special event here at the ranch on Saturday for our young adult group. About thirty young people came out, and our service lasted til 4am. The basic gyst was just talking about sin and repentance, and also talking about how the sins of our family members have affected us, and kinda bringing both those things before God in a symbolic burning of a paper we put all of those sins on.
It was very impactful for me, especially when it was followed up by the sermon Sunday which was about committing yourself to God, making a pact with him. I'm not so much one for pacts, but I did re-commit some areas of my life to him, and felt a lot of peace I haven't felt in some time.
The event was also really cool cuz I got to use my gifts. I translated some awesome Reformed church prayers. (I found them here: http://www.reformationtheology.com/2006/05/corporate_confession_of_sin.php) to be read during the service, and put Psalm 51 to music for the worship portion. I couldn't think of a song to play for the thoughtful prayer time, so I ended up meandering between a bunch of different ones, I was crying, one, because I was moved, and two, because the smoke from our fire was intense.
Anyways, I gotta go, I'm preaching Sunday (40 minutes in Spanish) and then Monday we leave on a Crusade where we'll work in the two opposite ends of Jalisco. I'm really looking forward to doing children's outreach in Puerto Vallarta, where apparently we'll be working with some kind of slum or dump community. Pray for us!
