Saturday Classes and Children's Home Updates

Propaganda:  T is for Teacher.
So I've started up two Saturday classes at a family-style children's home outside of town.   I teach four 1st graders at 11, and then after lunch I have four to six 4-6th graders.  :)  Unfortunately, I don't get to volunteer with 1B each week as a teacher anymore.  :(  :(  :(

But I get to use the sheets I made for them, and the 1st graders at this place are loving it.  :)

I missed going to the second children's home this week, but the two weeks previous I got to play a lot of football, and then the second week it was raining, and so I played with some of the younger guys and girls:   Ninja, Uno, piggy-backs, chase the jump rope.  Fun stuff.  Some of the older guys were interested in me teaching an English class, we'll see if that pans out.

On Thursday we had a Birthday party for my student from the children's home next door.  We watched The Princess Bride, played some games and ate yummy cake that I made with my neighbor.  Unfortunately, the cake broke into three pieces when we were trying to extract it from the pan.  I was dismayed.  But my neighbor decided to make it a layer cake, and it was beautiful.

Importing a Mexican/Zaragoza tradition, I pushed her face into the cake.  :)
I was pretty tired, but there was something beautiful about the event coming together.  I had a girl from church help out, and she got right in getting to know the girls.   I'm hoping to do something more regularly with this home, because the hole children's home has really accepted me, even though all I generally do there is teach one class a week.  Pray for opportunities!  :)

We had 3 guests, all Kristinas!
