Bowling Green, Durham, DC, Boston

Sometimes...it's the little things.

I visited four sets of friends for three days or so over the last few weeks.

Sometimes a stranger prophesies over you in a coffee shop and you pray together.

Sometimes you can see God in the way that your friend goes out to the pharmacy to help with his wife's chronic illness, and how even in rough circumstances, generosity and love can be found.

Sometimes you can see God in a couple's harmonies, the way their voices wind together, or the way they open up their home and let you sing your songs, even if the show ends up being just three people.

Sometimes you can see God in the way that a young couple loves their three-month old, the way that other things don't matter so much when you have love.

Sometimes you can see God in faithful friends who are there for you until 3am when you're hurting.

Or in the kind strangers who don't let you forget your hat or who say hello.

Sometimes God lets you see art, share poetry, and go on fairly spontaneous road trips to Vermont.  And you can see him in the way that two friends over the course of a life-time, can balance, encourage, inspire, and rebuke one another.  God might just have something to do with good cheese too.  He just might.  :)
