Much more exciting to myself, was that I got to lead worship and give the devotional! I shared about how today is the the day of salvation for well, everyone, whether they were Christians or whatever, if they needed help for something or whatever, now was the time to take it to God. And basically tried to say "hey team, it's a gloomy day and we're not expecting many people, but you should be ready, cuz God still wants to do stuff today."
Another exciting part of the day was when I convinced Miguel (7), one of the kids from the ranch, to help Cesar take vital signs. With his little clipboard he recorded everyone's pulse, weight, and height. :) He's awesome.
According to a Baptist understanding of the world, one of our team members accepted Christ after my message and an altar call by Victor (who was bound and determined to convert her the moment he figured she was Catholic). However, as she was Catholic, I really don't have a clue. She might have just been the only person who understood my message in that I was trying to say "hey, we probably all need salvation today." She might have just been a good Catholic who understands salvation more in terms of continual deliverance and covering of sins (hence the need for last rites and all that). Or maybe she was one of the many nominal believers in Mexico who had yet to encounter a living, personal God. God knows. But I'm content, one way or another, God used my message, and showed how we at Fishers of Men are a part of the answer to my prayer for more unity among the various churches in Mexico (but perhaps showed how far we have to go as well).
Then, in the evening, we had our young adult group at church. It was half a Valentine's Day party, but I got to lead worship (same songs as in the morning) and share a very abbreviated version of how I came to believe in God. And basically, I caused a lot of havoc during the party section. :) The best moment however, was during our gift exchange. I had the name of a friend, Sandy, but I was trying to trade names with someone, thinking I was about to receive a heart-filled picture frame. She, not knowing I had her name, stopped me from trading, and ended up receiving the lovely package of toy soldiers I had brought as my gift. :)
