Three Weeks In

Guitar Class was mostly in Russian this Thursday, and we had four students merrily and painfully plucking out their first four chords.  I've taken to giving directions at least partially in Russian for my younger classes after some pretty big assignment instruction misunderstandings the first week.

I love Seventh Class.  They did their homework.  As a class, no one else did.  :(

Well, that's not true; one of my tenth class guys did as well.  On Saturday tenth class invited me to go paintballing with them.  Let's just say I didn't get any welts, but most of them did. (not that I'm a very good shot, I'm just a good tactician) And I got that guy who did his homework right between the eyes on his mask.
What do Veggietales, Jesse Owens, Looking Sexy, Mourning, and Joy have in common?   My character classes went really well this week.  :)

Now I'm struggling to make class plans for my speaking classes.  It isn't very motivating that the other teachers don't have theirs done, and the administration doesn't have the vacations and such plotted out.  I did however, find out that the school year ends June 12th, and that I have a visa til March at this point.  That was the longest we expected, so that's cool.

Last Sunday after service I went to the market to get some food and some pants.  So the market is basically a huge number of stalls and shipping crates stacked around one another.  Prices are good, but you're never quite sure if one store will have what you're looking for.  Luckily, there are like five more...or in the case of trousers, 50 more.  I walked the whole place once and was so overwhelmed I just wanted to go home.  But I did end up buying groceries without a hitch.

Yesterday, however, I decided to try my hand at bargaining.  I was like...hmm...50 som ($1) is a little much for some red pepper, how about 40?   And the lady was like NO, just 20.  And I was like "What?"  I had misunderstood and thought she said 50 instead of 15.  :)

So I'm starting to get my feet here.  Pray for my health (sore throat ick) and for continued vision and inspiration and dilligence and discipline to get all my classes planned and learn some more Russian while I'm at it.  And maybe Kyrgyz soon?

Have a great week ya'll!
