Today...

Was a good day. Although I'm worn out.

This week, we hosted a 15-year old homeschooler, Krista, who came down to volunteer. Helping host her a little bit really inspired me to try to have some of you come down, because it was awesome to see her loving the kids and processing the things God was speaking into her life.

I teach the two six-year olds piano for about 10 minutes daily, and today Carolina really started to understand reading notes, after about a week of back and forth. She doesn't really know how to read yet, so that was pretty exciting! :)

Also today, my buddy Leo, who is 8, was frustrated with learning to read notes, and so for the last ten minutes of piano I layed down some chords and he improvised. IT WAS AWESOME!! I play by ear a lot, but he was doing all these note runs and different things I do, and some of them he was doing better than me! I've got all the guitar students playing songs now, although they can't change fast enough to play them well, they're ALMOST there. :)

Earlier this week, Krista had half of us out watching the stars, and I got to share a bunch of things with Leo about different times God had spoken to me under the stars. That was pretty sweet, those are the sort of things I'm here to do.

English class is intense. Half of my students are perfectionists, and the other half doubt their abilities and self-sabotage. But they're all really smart, and picking up the new vocabulary really well!

This weekend was crazy, the parents and all the older girls were gone to a Ladies retreat, so Adrian (another staff member about my age) took the lead and we had a party and did a bunch of fun stuff like went out for tacos. On Sunday night, Adrian headed up a large "gunfight" (6 vs. 6) with the guys before playing barbies with the younger girls. He's awesome! :)

I started reading "The Pursuit of God" by Tozer. Chapter 2 was on renunciation, and I was thinking to myself, I really seek a lot of validation from other people and am pretty addicted to my computer because of it. Sure enough, the internet was down for about a week after that. So it hasn't always been fun, but God's been speaking through every sermon and a lot of conversations since I've been down here. ¡Adelante!
