So I DJ'ed a wedding for my old mentor/high school buddy Christina Metzler on Saturday. It was lovely, really fun. I was more nervous than the other events I'd DJ'ed, because someone else picked most of the songs, and there was just a lot of nerves leading up to the wedding, but things went great and everyone seemed to love it. I like being able to serve. :) Dismissing tables to eat brought the most amusement and riotous behavior. One table was threatening me, so I asked over the intercom for someone to talk to their table about peacemaking and reconciliation while dismissing them. Another table built me some art in order to go sooner. First ever sculpture dedicated to myself. :) Unfortunately, thinking them of high character, I made the people I knew from church go last, and I haven't lived it down since.
Christina and her Daddy :)
It was a lovely wedding, Christina and Greg made it into a reverent event, with prayer and a little preaching, and it was also cool watching them spend the entire reception time making the rounds and saying hello to everyone.
In church my kindergarten sunday school teacher shared with the pastor and the adult bible study that I had come to that kindergarten class knowing how to read the bible, and when asked how I learned, I responded "by reading the encyclopedias." Nerd child.
Sunday night I gave a testimony at Riverview's youth group, which is the previous post. I also lead worship rather last minute, which was an interesting experience. I've only lead worship in Spanish for the last six months! But that went well too. A couple of the students came up afterwards just jaw-dropped, saying "your testimony is so cool!" So that was cool, although it makes me feel like I should've made it more intense or more ordinary or something.
I also recorded some songs with my old friend Matt H. :) Hopefully will be able to share those with ya'll soon.
