So this was our first day of Spiritual Life events. We run five events every Tuesday and Thursday. Movie and Chat, Bible Study, a Book study (Epic by John Eldridge), Crossroads discussion group, and Soul Outpost.
I got Emma (she's 12, daughter of one of the teachers, and super-helpful, a real leader) to chalk the ground for Soul Outpost, which happens during lunch. She's been super helpful this year, kinda did some secretarial work for me last week, which is kinda amusing cuz she's bad at it, but it helped me get things done quicker. So Soul Outpost, we do worship songs and testimonies. What songs do we do? Well, most of them are here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0D2EB510F8276B58 So Josh and I are doing music, everybody sings along, and then I interview someone very briefly. Today it was Liliya. Her story was good, but it was hard because many of the students left for class in the middle of it. However, turnout was amazing!!! And we sang probably 8-10 songs, including (of course) Prince of Peace twice. (it's kinda the crowd favorite here)
I ran into a former SLI student after Soul Outpost and we chatted for a few hours. It was good to process some of the many things that are going on, but almost too early to open that up, because life was still really really busy.
Crossroads discussion went well. I lead a discussion on friendship, and people enjoyed it and some 16+ people came. Eastern Europeans are kinda quiet, and we had a couple people share about suicidal friends and stuff, which kinda got me in a funk cuz I've had a lot of those at one point or another in my life, but it went well.
After that, I went out by the pond to play guitar, and then gave an impromptu concert in the dorm lounge, playing a bunch of pop songs. I was overwhelmed, so it was good to play, but it made me miss my musical friends from previous years, and I'm a little frustrated, it's been a week and we still haven't got the piano moved, so I was playing by myself. But it was still cool. *Yawn* Long day.
