Summer Journal, Day 20: Thursdays' the day
The final Thursday of SLI is always the big day for me. We tackle relationship with God in our Crossroads discussion group, and it's the last full day with students. Soul Outpost went well, it was seemed a good wrap-up for the series, with Grėtė sharing a story of coming to SLI six years ago, coming to LCC, and later coming to faith and becoming an RA. It was SO FUN pre-interviewing her on Wednesday. When talking about the change in her personality with becoming serious about her faith, she said "I even thank God for the bugs that fly into my room," although she had been quite unhappy previously.
Crossroads was very rewarding, we heard a bunch of different stories. One man was invited to study for free at Bible college even though he didn't believe, and then came to believe there! Kaitlyn, one of the other leaders, shared a story of grace for perfectionism and God's love. It was a very special time. Some shared a few sentences, others went for a long time, but it was good.
After Crossroads, we did a worship night in the sixth floor chapel. It was sparsely attended, but I think we all enjoyed it very much. We shared some stories, prayed in pairs, and sang a lot of songs. :) Strangely enough, our majority was Latvians! So I had them teach us one verse of Amazing Grace in Latvian, as that was the only song I had in Latvian. :)
This being our last night, I tried to spend the evening with students. Unfortunately, most of them went to the beach to party. :/ But Skaiste and a couple others of us watched movies until four am, sort of our "last night in the dorms" reward. I think next year we should do a lock-in.
