Summer Journal: Day 7 BBQ and a Petition

FRIDAY!!!!

Bad news on the piano.  Rejected, and they didn't really give me a reason.  So...I went to one of the students, and was like "it can be moved without me, I just can't know, or we can do a petition...or..."  And he decided to do a petition.  This a good sign for democracy in Eastern Europe, and a bad sign for democracy in the US.  We have nearly fifty signatures from just today!!

Oh, also, today was the SLI BBQ...so I spent a lot of the day hunting microphones and the like.  So we do hot dogs, hang out, and after about thirty minutes we cranked the tunes for dancing.  It was amazing!!!!   Linda, one of the teachers, taught some line dances, Kaitlyn threw in some pop, and we kept the place rockin for a full two hours...it's never been close to that at something I've DJ'ed before.  We were exhausted.  We danced traditional polkas, party dances like the Cupid Shuffle, and a bunch of random techno and pop.  And it was very cool, a couple of the students came up after and were just like "we haven't danced like that before," and the way I understood it was that dancing as good clean fun was a revelation for them.  :)  So that made me happy.

Afterwards, Friday night, the one evening I leave open for family and really my one time truly "off"  during SLI, my dad and I always sing Karaoke at a pub in town.  It was fun, a lot of the people are starting to get to know me there and like to sing with me.  This one guy always pulls me in for something party-ful that always has something somewhat questionable but not too bad.  It's amusing.  (As are a lot of the Russian and Lithuanian songs that get sung)  My parents are pretty intense though, they always keep me out way later than I want to be.  *Yawn*
